We welcomed the talented David Brown from Gosforth camera club to the club on Thursday for his talk on walking the Northumberland Coast. He took us on a 97 mile trip from Newcastle to Berwick walking the along our magnificent coastline,
David told us how he handpicked his days to travel due to the weather conditions and used public transport where possible. He showed how magnificent our coast is and also showed some beaches and areas that only visible by walking. His talk was a mixture of landscapes and wildlife concentrating on wader birds, walking anything from 7 to 17mile per day. He talked about his style and techniques of taking the birds using a 400mm and 2x tele converter and keeping his body as low as possible while remaining still to allow the birds to come to him. He also had a selection of 15, bird prints that he used to get ARPS award just so the members could see first hand the kind of quality it takes to get this award. Although it was a long talk it was nice to see that most members stayed beyond 9pm to see the end and have a chat with him to edit.

Paul Kidd and myself represented Cramlington CC at this event hosted by Gateshead Camera Club.
We were warmly welcomed by the members and the judge Keith Suddaby got the ball rolling with his introduction. First image up set the scene, ”Scottish Highland Patrol” a super sharp image of a pine martin in the woodland. This brought a gasp from the judge. The rest of the evening Keith commented on each image as he gave the scores. Some amazing images in there, Gosforth scored very highly all night their lowest score 27. This made them clear winners. Only 3 points separate the three clubs. Gosforth also gained two 30 point scores with wildlife images of an Osprey and Kingfisher. Final scores; Gosforth 286 Morpeth 258 Gateshead 257 Cramlington 255 Colin Livingstone Inter Club Secretary Sorry for the short notice but due to the limited number of entries for the PDI Battle that was due to take place this Thursday November 17th it has now been rescheduled to December the 8th.
