For Presidents Night, (Thursday 7th September), the first meeting of the new season, we are delighted to announce that our guest speaker for the evening is Thomas Heaton.

Thomas Heaton is a North East based professional photographer who although earning his ‘stripes’ as a Video Technician, followed by a stint as a wedding photographer  has a real passion & talent for landscape, travel & outdoor photography.

Over the last couple of years Thomas’s beautifully recorded, produced and presented videos primarily on landscape and travel photography and showing Thomas’s passion & dedication to getting that ‘perfect image’ have become a bit of a phenomenon on YouTube with over 148 thousand subscribers.

For anyone with an interest in photography in general or particularly landscape/travel/outdoor photography this evening is a must.

The evening is open to non members & guests with a nominal fee of £3 payable on the door on the night.  Doors open at 7pm.

This is also an ideal opportunity for anybody thinking of joining a camera club to come along to Thomas's talk, see some beautiful landscape images and meet some friendly like minded people in a relaxed informal environment.

​Thursday 24th August.
 Club outing to Derek Curtis and his Birds Of Prey.
Derek and his team of volunteers made us very welcome and gave us lots of information about their birds. For the first 15 minutes we had a look at all the birds on their perches and took photographs of them there.. We were given access to all the birds apart from a breeding pair. Derek and his team then set the birds in trees and on natural perches for us to photograph. This was followed with a flying display and those with faster cameras than me got some great images.  
A great evening, thanks to Bob Finlay, Paul Kidd,Janet Leadbitter, Bill Leadbitter,Pop & John Brannon, David Johnson,John Burn, Adam Burness, Peter Moody, Terry Cookson, who came along.

This Thursday (24th Aug) evenings trip to the Rising Sun Birds of Prey Centre is still on, subject to the weather staying favourable.  Please note that the time has now moved forward an hour to 6pm to hopefully achieve better lighting conditions.

On the evening of Thursday 24th August Derek Curtis of the Rising Sun Country Park Birds of Prey Centre has invited the members of CCC to the centre to photograph the wide variety of birds of prey they have. Weather permitting and if conditions are right there may be the opportunity to see and photograph some of the birds in flight.

The cost for this evening of entertainment will be £5 per person payable on the night.

​The 'walkabout' this Thursday (17th Aug) is to Roker Beach.  Please meet at Harbour View car park at 7pm where parking for up to 2 hours is free.  Post code for navigation devices........SR6 0ZZ.

This Sunday (6th Aug) will be our last Sunday club trip before the start of the new season.
Sunday's destination is Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Deer & Water Park, North Yorkshire. (12 miles North of Harrogate).  Now recognised, quite rightly as a 'World Heritage Site'.

For those who have not visited before, this is a fantastic opportunity to capture some great images of the impressive ruined abbey, fabulous water gardens and the herds of Red, Fallow & Sika deer that roam free throughout the park.

This venue is a National Trust site, so NT members have free admission. The admission price for non members is £15.

Thursday evenings (3rd Aug) club 'walkabout' is to Amble Harbour. Those wishing to join us please meet at Amble Pier at 7pm.
