This Thursday (17th December) CCC member Natalie Wright presented a talk on ‘drone photography’. Natalie has had a keen interest in the use of drones in her photography for some time and currently owns a DJI Mavic Mini drone.
Natalie had produced a well constructed presentation guiding members through the basics of what drones were, what types were available, pricing and illustrating what uses and attributes each type had. This was followed by the somewhat complicated and soon changing information on the legislation and licences required to own and operate drones in the UK. Natalie had included video footage taken with her Mavic Mini showing the high quality of image that can be produced by a relatively inexpensive drone. The lively and enjoyable discussion that followed showed that members were highly entertained and enlightened on drones by Natalie’s presentation. The committee would like to thank Natalie for providing us all with an entertaining and informative presentation and a enjoyable evening. Bob Finlay (President)

Greek Photographic Circuit 2021 A big thank you to Paul Dunn for his extremely well constructed, informative, entertaining and well delivered presentation on ‘Cropping’. This produced a lively discussion on this and other topics taking us until the meeting closed at well after 9pm.
This evenings presentation (26th Nov) was given by our own Bill Stephens AFIAP, PPSA. The essence of Bill’s presentation was to put forward his opinion that we should all take photographs for our own enjoyment and not necessarily to win competitions.
Bill has been taking photographs since he was a youngster with an old box camera but it was later in life that he and a work mate decided to join Cramlington CC to try and improve their skills with newer camera equipment. Bill says this did bring out his competitive streak and competition entries, and wins soon followed. Since then Bill & wife Margaret, also AFIAP, PPSA have travelled quite extensively in their photography quest and both have been successful on the international scene. Now their photography is of a more personal note. This evening Bill showed images taken over the years on a wide range of subjects & locations both at home & abroad. From the Canadian prairies to Greece and our own Beamish Open Air Museum, a particular favourite of Bill’s. This was followed by a short AV of beautiful fractal images. Complex patterns of coloured swirls & shapes moving and entwining. A discussion of the evenings entertainment followed. Many thanks to Bill for putting together a fine and enjoyable presentation.
