Dec 17th - Christmas Social
Tonight was Cramlington Camera Club's annual Christmas bash. A fabulous hot and cold buffet provided by the staff at the Clef & Cask ensured members were well fed.
During the evening, club Vice President Alan Lockey entertained us with a festive Guess Who picture quiz. Some of the pictures were so tricky to decipher even Google couldn't provide an answer!
I would like to thank those members who kindly donated over 30 prizes for the raffle to raise money for the club. The winners received a range of prizes, from homemade jams, chocolates and wine to camera bags and photography books. One lucky member won a grand total of 5 prizes!
On behalf of the committee, I'd like to wish members a very merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Dec 10th - Annual PDI battle
The annual PDI battle took place on the 10th December 2015, and, as usual, there was a fine array of images submitted, to make the night a very entertaining affair.
The battle was based on a festive theme, and the images ranged from a Christmas tree in an unusual place.....on top of a crane, to be precise,...... to the more traditional baubles, candles, etc, and even Santa reading letters whilst sunbathing.
The format for the competition was based on a knockout competition. Two images went head to head, and the members had to vote for the image they wanted to progress to the next round. Throughout the evening, there were some very close counts, and on two occasions, there had to be recounts.
The winner of the competition was a stunning shot by Pauline Wilson, entitled Wishing and Hoping. It pipped Alan Lockey's fun shot entitled " Eat your heart out Rudolph ". Many congratulations to Pauline, who now has the unenvious task of picking the theme for next seasons PDI battle.
Congratulations, and many thanks to ALL the members who submitted their images.

Dec 12th - 4 Way PDI competition
This week we hosted the annual 4 Way PDI competition between ourselves, Morpeth CC, Gateshead CC & Gosforth CC. A very good turnout on a wet and windy night.
Mr Keith Robertson ARPS, AFIAP, of Hexham and District PS. was our judge on the night, As Keith said himself, judging was more about expressing his opinion on the images presented and what a tough job he had with so many at a high standard. As with all 4 Way events there were 32 images to look at and ponder over, and Keith did so with gusto. He reviewed each and commented on the quality, processing and technique that made the finished image for the photographer. Offering a suggestion here and there on how it may have been improved. Giving his score as he went. Everything from a classic motor bike, a hypnotic pair of Eyes, seascapes , landscapes to the Long eared Owl.
Two images scored the top mark of 30 points Cramlington's "Eyes" By Pop Brannon and Morpeth's "Long Eared Owl" by Elaine Illingworth.
Lauren thanked Keith for his time and his encouragement and all present for turning up to make it an enjoyable evening.
The evening finished with a small buffet and groups from all clubs chatting and discussing the images.
1st place, Morpeth 208 pts
2nd Place, Gosforth 207 pts
3rd place, Gateshead 205 pts
4th place, Cramlington 195 pts
We now look forward to the 4 Way Print section in February 2016 and see if we can balance the scores.
