Dear Members
As you may know your committee has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to see whether it is feasible and safe to start the new season in September. We have stayed in communication with the church authorities throughout the summer months and have drawn up risk assessment plans of our own and have adopted the regulations set out by the church administrators. The church has been unable to give a definitive answer as to our resuming in September but has conceded that it is preferred that no clubs/groups attend at this time. Currently no clubs or groups are intending to. The committee has therefore reluctantly had to take the decision not to resume meetings in September. Many of our fellow local clubs have come to the same conclusion and are adopting other methods, such as Zoom meetings and weekend outings to keep their members involved. I am aware and fully understand that some members may not, for what ever reason, be comfortable with using Zoom but try as we might we won’t be able to cater for or please everyone. For those members who are willing and interested in holding meetings via Zoom we hope, in September to run a series of short ( sub 30min) tutorials which Paul Dunn has kindly prepared, by way of experimentation to see how interactive, engaging, user friendly and of course popular they may be. Dates and times yet to be decided. As to physical external meets (probably weekends) for socially distanced photographic opportunities, we hope to have a program of dates and locations available soon. These may be at short notice. a bit ‘ad hoc’ and of course weather dependant, but we hope members who feel able will take the opportunity to engage in social intercourse, which is the very ethos of Cramlington CC. It is our intention to hold the AGM via ‘Zoom’ and have pencilled in Thursday 8th October for this. More information to follow at a later date. It would be hoped that the season, with regard to physical meetings, could be restarted in the New Year, or sooner if the levels of infection continue to decline and restrictions as to social distancing and mask wearing relaxed, and of course if we don’t suffer a second wave before then.
