Oct 29th - Members night - My Type of Photography
I was surprised at such a great turnout for this event, but fourteen members brought in images on flash drives and we got to see some wonderful images accompanied by some very enlightening descriptions. From scanned images from days gone by to the Islands of Scotland, light globes glowing on the beach and back to a petrol heads dream.
I was encouraged to see our new members getting in there with images that inspire them. I hope this experience will give some of you the confidence to come on the exchange visits to Consett and Gosforth and present your images to their members.

Oct 22nd - Out and About with Keith Hildreth
Cramlington Camera club welcomed Keith Hildreth of Tynemouth Photographic Society. Keith's passion is natural history and as chairman of the Nature Group at Tynemouth photography helps fill this passion. Keith is a very experienced wildlife photographer with a deep love of the countryside, its flora and fauna and the landscape itself.
Keith's presentation was a seasonal view out and about with his camera. Using a variety of images, he led us from early spring to late winter illustrated with the animals, insects, plants and the landscapes he loves so much. Clearly demonstrated by the quality of the images, the care, patience, knowledge and lens required to photograph each subject. He explained some of the tricks he employed to capture the images he wanted, at the same time inviting comment and questions.
The success of Keith's presentation and his enthusiasm for his chosen field of photography was, that before we realised, it was nine o-clock and time to show our appriciation.
A very enjoyable and well received and educational, not only in relation to developing photographic skills, but also a rare insight into the beauty that surrounds us and so often goes unseen.

Oct 8th - Consett and District PS exchange visit
We had a number of guests from Consett and District PS. visit us, unfortunately George Ledger was unable to attend due to ill health.
The evening started off with John Wolstenholme the clubs treasurer with a series of images from the north east featuring derelict cottages with drywall lead in lines, to barns and landscapes with footprints in the snow. He also gave a brief insight into his type of photography.
Next up came Caroline Bean from Muggleswick in the Derwent Valley with her sheep. Her enthusiasm and enjoyment shone through her images, as she showed us the rigours of farming the fells and the joy she finds in her flock. Some of her images she has made into cards that are available locally.
Ken Tembey followed, and in his own words he is the "newcomer" to the club. He presented an array of local scenes and street photography from St Marys to the Central Station, to show his development in the past year.
Following on with Bob Graham and a variety of seascapes, landscapes and sunsets, showing his love of the outdoors. Explaining the beauty to be found in the rock formations on our coastline and the simplicity of a couple holding hands at sunset.
Chris Mcilreavy followed with a slow shutter speed shot in a local harbour smoothing the water and followed with some international images of the Grand Canal in Venice and the Valencia Opera house. Then a selection of autumnal landscape scenes in the lake district and Scotland.
Our final presentation came from Mark Corpe, with a show of his images from the birds of our gardens and waterways to the glorious reflections of Hartlepool Marina. Also on show his street photography from a recent visit to Newcastle and St Marys lighthouse.
All in all a fantastic selection of images presented well by the Consett club. Our members showed their appreciation in the usual manner and we then had time to chat over tea and biscuits.
Many thanks to our guests for an enjoyable evening.

Oct 1st - Report - Study for a Degree by Geoffrey Bradford
Our first club night with a guest speaker. A very informative presentation by Geoffrey Bradford.
Geoffrey is a student with the Open College of the Arts, studying Photography. His background is in art and lectured for many years before taking up photography. He gave a very interesting and informative talk on the level of work and enjoyment that goes into studying for a degree in Photography. His Presentation was quite emotional at times as he explained one of the modules was based on his relationship with his father. He also exhibited a lot of his course work and "sketch" books.
He spent some time afterwards answering many questions form members.
A good start to the season.
