A very good turnout of members for this inaugural event.
Throughout the season we have had 6 judges looking at and commenting on 194 PDIs, 130 colour prints and 90 mono prints over nine club competitions. This gave us 45 top scoring images for inclusion in tonight's event. Our judge for the night was Jed Wee MA (Photog) ARPS, AFIAP, from Durham Photographic Society . We have met Jed before and he is a very well known judge and speaker on the circuit. He explained how he approached judging by looking at the technical quality, composition and importantly the light in each image. Once started Jed took us on an informative critique and commentary of each image, explaining how he tried to see what the author saw and recorded. We had asked Jed for only one image as a "Best of the Best" and he commented how difficult it was to choose from so many good images. He settled on Alan Carr`s "Bamburgh" as his winner, a stunning mono of the castle seen from the north looking down the beach through the grasses. The members showed their appreciation for both Alan and Jed`s comments, a short question session followed before our president Lauren congratulated Alan and thanked Jed for coming to Cramlington.
