Jan 28th - 2nd Open PDI competition
Our club held it's second open PDI competition on the above date, and once again, the array, and diversity, of shots had proved a difficult task for the judge to choose his winners.
The judge on this occasion was Mr. Vince Rooker,( DPAGB, EFIAP, APAGB, ) from Morpeth Camera Club. Lauren, our club president, made our members aware that this was Vince's 50th year as a member of Morpeth Camera Club, and this feat earned a very well deserved round of applause from all our members.
It was then left to Vince to go through the 59 images submitted by our members, and tell us what he liked about our shots, and what he disliked, and more importantly, in his opinion, how they could have been improved.
In the end, he chose Pop Brannon's shot entitled Follow Me as the winning shot, and a very worthy winner it was indeed.
1st place. Follow Me by Pop Brannon
2nd place. Vase and Cones by Julia Robson
3rd place. Will She Make It by Alan Carr
4th place. 328 Days and Counting by Colin Livingstone
5th place. Butterfly on a Flower by Peter Moody
HC In Ya Face by Alan Lockey
HC Any Colour But Black by Jim Meikle
HC Seaton Sluice Groyne by Bob Finlay
HC Monument to the Brave by Bill Leadbitter
HC Long Eared Owl by Colin Livingstone
MANY THANKS to all the members for submitting their images, and, once again, a HUGE THANKS to Vince for taking the time and effort to judge them.

Jan 26th - Exchange Visit to Gosforth Camera Club
On Tuesday night we had our visit to Gosforth CC. Which is held in The Millstone Pub South Gosforth.
Their President Harry McAtominy gave us a grand introduction and our President Lauren then introduced our first presentation by Derek Parker with a show of his prints from his visits to Thailand, all with descriptions and a little humour.
Paul Murphy showed his favourite images of his days out with family and their dogs and then some images from his wedding portfolio. All with an anecdote to tell the story.
Lauren Clayton produced a display of images taken on our summer walks and a spectacular view over the Amalfi coast. She commented on her particular take on each one and why she enjoyed each one.
Jamie Welsh took us on a photographic tour from the west coast of Ireland, the glens of Scotland and back to Whitley Bay. Giving us a taste of his particular viewpoint on the day he pressed the trigger. Colin Livingstone's images showed how his search for the history of Newcastle gave him the motivation to learn more about the city he grew up in, through a process of blending old and new images together.
Raymond Thompson showed some of his more recent images since joining the club, and showing his love of Northumberland and its coast. With some tight cropped landscapes and seascapes.
Next up came Mark Illingworth with a very musical set of images, all taken around the local area with local bands. Marks style is predominantly black and white with tight crops to highlight the detail of the musical instruments and facial expressions.
Last up was Alec Cowley with his AV display, a 10minute tribute to the aircraft displays at the Sunderland air show with a patriotic and humorous soundtrack.
Jenny Jewitt came along to support us.
Gosforth gave us an encouraging round of applause to thank our members for all their hard work. The evening closed with coffee, buffet and a time to chat and exchange ideas.

Jan 21st - An evening with Peter and John
Lifelong friends since childhood, Peter Dixon and John Race entertained us with a truly excellent show. John started the evening with a display of Images wide and varied, from a glass block wall, simplistic landscapes to a rusty "Tack". John picked up the reins at the half way point and started off with some portraits and moving through to their love of finding the odd locations for their shoots.
They quite often carry a range of props to help "set" their images. Along with commentary, banter and anecdotes of the people they have met on their travels. It was a very enjoyable night both photographically and for the non-stop entertainment.

Jan 14th - 2nd Open Print competition
On Thursday night 14 January 2016 we held our Second Open Print Competition. The Judge was Stephen Fowler of Ryton Camera Club and he commented that all of the images were to a high standard.
Stephen was very entertaining and suggested that he may have to move to Cramlington for the wonderful Skies we have here. We had given Stephen a hard task with 45 Colour and 31 Mono Prints to judge.
At the end of the night Lauren thanked Stephen for all his hard work in selecting the winning Prints and asked the members to show their appreciation.
