Wow And Wow,
Well done to Cramlington members in this year's NCPF annual competition.... Let's start with a Trophy winner, Norman Jeffcoat Trophy for Best Landscape Bamburgh by Alan Carr This image was also Highly Commended in the Monochrome awards. Next the beginners Robert Chalmers Trophy. Beginners Print Elizabeth Lockey achieved 2nd place with her image Girls just wanna have fun and Pop Brannon was Highly Commended for two of her images - Eyes and Follow me Pop also received a Highly Commended for Follow me in the Jane Black Trophy for beginner's PDIs In the main categories, Jamie Welsh had Highly Commended in the PDI section for North Tower and in the colour Prints for Blackrock Cottage. Many of our members also had the honour of having their images selected for various portfolios Bewick Trophy Portfolio The Potters Hands by Jim Meikle Night Light by Jamie Welsh Bamburgh Sunset by Bob Finlay Myles Audas Portfolio Carlos Rodriguez by Jim Meikle Neist Head by Jim Meikle Walkies by Alan Lockey Croome Park Church by Bob Finlay Beginners prints Portfolio Splash by Elizabeth Lockey 12 Arches by Adam Burness I think we have done very well this year as individuals and especially the beginners section showing us how to do it. Considering that our overall entry was somewhat limited I think 14 nominations and trophy positions is very good. Let's hope this spurs us on to a bigger and stronger entry next year. Once again well done to all who entered and helping to put Cramlington Camera Club on the map. On a cold windy evening seven of us met up at the Little Haven Car park in South Shields.
We spent the next hour or so wandering along the promenade from the Herd Groyne lighthouse to South Marine park. taking photos of the local landmarks and architecture. After a walk around the boating lake we decided that it was time for a hot drink and headed for the nearest pub. A welcome "newcomer" to the walk was Derek Parker on his first walk, who had driven down from Morpeth. Colin Livingstone secretary On Sunday the club held its first outdoor workshop in Jesmond Dene with Neil Atkinson. This was a spin off from Neil's visit to the club in February. We met at Milford Lodge in the Dene and Neil explained the format of the day. Those attending Bill And Janet Leadbitter, Richard Curry, Jim Meikle, Pop and John Brannon, Myself and Ray Thomson.
We started off with at a small waterfall and Neil explained his formula for getting the correct shutter speed that "you" would enjoy looking at. The morning progressed with other locations and more about composition, backgrounds and lighting always given in Neil's jargon free manner. Along with all the instruction Neil regaled us with anecdotes of the Dene`s history and other shoots. The session finished all too soon and we made our way back to our cars, we all thanked Neil for his time and patience. A grand day out. Colin Livingstone secretary. |
