Tonight’s meeting was in the way of a practical session to show members a couple of ways to take portraits and head shots, using a simple system of budget off camera lights. First was o Godox AD200 and a Godox TT600. Which are relatively cheep to buy secondhand. We set up a light-stand and then used “bedsheets” as backdrops to continue the budget theme, one black and one white. Our models for the night where Louisa and Darcy who are good friends and both new to modelling, Louisa the daughter of our member Donna Gibson. Both arrived casually dressed and were keen to start. Our first set up was AD200 in a 20” soft-box set high to create right light to face and shadows to the left, so with a variety slight adjustments we set about shooting. Occasional use of a gold reflector to add colour to the face and to show the differences you can achieve with highlights. Both took turns posing with members, and made adjustments to lights to create a variety of looks. After the first 30 minuets we switched to a white backdrop and created a different set of images. All members had a good time and I feel the evening went well and I certainly learned from the experience.
