Highly Commended of the 1st PDI for the website. Great Horned Owl (Peter Moody) Dahlia (Pauline Wilson) Beside the Sea (Pauline Wilson) Sea Holly (Colin Livingstone) Flying High (Paul Dunn) Winners 5th Greek Café Culture (Ray Barnes) 4th White Sands – Blue Sky (Brian Sidney) 3rd Light and Shadow (Brian Sidney) 2nd 199 (Colin Livingstone) 1st Red Arrows at Work (Tom Wilson) Editors Musings I was not there on the night, so in the absence of watching the judging, i'll instead do something a little different. As the web editor, this is my pick of the winners. As you know i'm a big fan of street photography, so I gravitated towards the 3 Greek gentlemen sitting round the table, chatting and watching life go by. Its just nice to capture a moment in time and I wonder what they discussed on the day? If you look carefully there is a reflection inside the cafe of someone sitting in the cafe.
A fun night had by all, playing with lights and mirrors to create many different and interesting effects. A simple setup of two continuous lights was used, to illuminate the subjects, and we simply experimented. Here I created a double exposure using some defocused lights that were hanging in front of a black background, then combined it with another subject, some items sitting on a mirror Bob, took this great shot of the book from a different angle and you can see that it totally changes the look of the image, really making use of the reflection. Big thanks to Adam, who stood in as a model for us!
12th Oct saw the results of this season’s 1st Open Print Competition. The competition was judged by Chris Graham from Ashington Camera Club.

With the wide range of subjects Chris had a difficult task to decide on the best prints. Congratulations go to Colin Livingstone who stole the show taking 1st place in both the mono and colour competitions. Colin Livingstone also pulled off a “straight” in the colour completion, with 1st, 2nd and 3th places.
