CRAMLINGTON CAMERA CLUB
A BRIEF HISTORY

The group was originally founded back in October 1971, when the first ever Cramlington Club Meeting was held at the Phoenix Lounge at Cramlington Community High School. The original fourteen members all met at Adult Education Classes at the school and through the Cramlington Adult Association - Cramlington Photographic Society was formed. The link between the two groups came to an end in 1973 and Cramlington Photographic Society was now a completely free group.

From 1973, big changes occurred. The group moved to Cramlington Community Centre and interclub competitions were occurring regularly. The Women's Institute building in Cramlington Village was the next place of meeting for the group from May 1986 and in January 2003 the group managed to secure a £5,000 donation from the National Lottery and with this New Digital Equipment was purchased by the group.

The name of the group changed to Cramlington Camera Club in April 2004 and once again the venue for the club changed in September 2006 to the Methodist Meeting Rooms, Doxford Place, Cramlington. This is where the club resides today. There have been 9 previous presidents of Cramlington Camera Club, which the 10th being the incumbent Margaret Dixon.
